What’s next??
I can’t believe I’m about to graduate. Again. This time I feel much more prepared for what I want to do with my life, though. I have an internship at a sweet mix studio right now which has been eating up my life, but I like it :D
So I’m thinking about what my next step is going to be.
Finding a paying job is pretty essential at this point, but I wish that didn’t mean my time and attention would be taken away from the studio, which is where I really want to be.
Ah, such is life.
So needless to say, I haven’t had much time for my own music lately. When this post-production class is over, I’ll be posting all the things we’ve worked on…totally different skills and way of thinking about sound :]
Other newssssss…about to record some cello for an artist called One Love this week. My friend (and boss hehe) Jon Castelli is over in New York producing his record as we speak. Can’t wait to hear how it turns out!
I guess that about wraps it up for now…gotta go finish my final project for this post-production class. We’re redesigning the sound for 4 minutes of the Wizard of Oz and it is more work than I have time for! Almost done though.

I wish I weren’t so broke…
Cause there is A LOT of gear that I want. Not just that I want, but that I NEED. Monitors being at the top of that list. Though I love love love my headphones (AKG K-240s) and I know them quite well by now, I am tired of mixing without hearing a room!
One day I’m going to scrounge up some money so I can upgrade to Pro Tools 9, though I’m not in too much of a rush to do that because I don’t see it as entirely necessary yet. At the moment, Pro Tools 8 doe everything I need it to! :]
I’m also starting to feel like I need to get out of the box, so I’ve been thinking about control surfaces…there is definitely something to actually putting your finger on a fader instead of clicking it with your mouse. Especially for knob style controls. Anyone have a suggestion?
MBox Micro. For mixing only. Lugging around a full-sized MBox2 and an external hard drive everywhere even if I’m not tracking is a pain in the ass. SO, mobile mixing, here I come! :]
And last but not least, I want the Spark by Blue Microphones…not out yet, but I’ve had my eye on it since the West La Music Expo.

WHOA This is a Ben Folds song my brother Bobby and I did almost 5 years ago at Cue Recording in northern VA—THROWBACK! Wish I still had the session for this so I could go back and work on it again, seeing as I didn’t really know what the hell I was doing at the time :p He’s playing piano and singing and I’m playing cello and harmonizing with him. I wish so badddddd I could mix this over againnnnn!! Also, I wish you couldn’t hear my nerves in my cello playing—mais c’est la vie. Oh well :p
It’s really cool seeing how far we’ve both come from this recording, though. He and I have got to get a postal service thing going and work on some stuff together knowing what we know NOW! :]

I have to admit, I really like Logic right now. Pro Tools is great, but I’m so much quicker in Logic! Hope when I’m done with this online class it’ll be easy to transfer over all the things I’ve learned. Too bad I have the LOGIC quick-keys memorized instead of the Pro Tools ones…blargh rargh.
Ah, well.
In the mood to cover a pop song I don’t like with the purpose of making a version I DO like. What should it beee? Drake? Lady Gaga? Fergie? Only time will tell! Maybe I’ll have something to post by the end of the day :p
